- Temporary Financial Hardship<\/strong>\n

- You must:\n
- \n
- be eligible for Child Care Subsidy<\/a><\/li>\n
- have experienced temporary financial hardship due to an event that happened in the last 6 months, including COVID-19<\/li>\n
- have a substantially reduced ability to pay child care fees.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n
- Temporary financial hardship may occur if you or your partner have:\n
- \n
- lost your job, other than if you resigned or retired<\/li>\n
- suffered a loss of income or a business failure due to circumstances outside of your control, such as serious illness<\/li>\n
- been adversely affected by a major disaster event<\/li>\n
- had your home destroyed or severely damaged.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n
- You may also be experiencing temporary financial hardship from:\n
- \n
- the death of a partner or child<\/li>\n
- loss of child support due to the death of a paying parent<\/li>\n
- having to leave your home and not being able to return because of an extreme circumstance such as from being affected by family and domestic violence<\/li>\n
- being affected by family and domestic violence<\/a>, and the family member responsible leaves, or is removed from the home.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
You can nominate more than 1 event if they have occurred within the last 6 months.<\/p>\n
We don\u2019t consider any of the following events for this subsidy:<\/p>\n

- \n
- \n
- \n
- \n
- expenses such as routine home repairs or maintenance<\/li>\n
- non-essential expenses<\/li>\n
- increases in child care fees.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
- \n
- Transition to Work
\n<\/strong><\/p>\n- \n
- You must:\n
- \n
- be eligible for Child Care Subsidy<\/a><\/li>\n
- meet the transition to work requirements<\/a><\/li>\n
- be within the time limit for each transition to work activity<\/li>\n
- have a family income of less than $70,015.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n
- You must also have either an active:\n
- \n
- Job Plan, unless you get Austudy<\/a>, ABSTUDY<\/a> or Disability Support Pension<\/li>\n
- Participation Plan, if you get Disability Support Pension<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n
- You must also be getting 1 of these payments:\n
- \n
- Parenting Payment<\/a><\/li>\n
- JobSeeker Payment<\/a><\/li>\n
- Disability Support Pension<\/a><\/li>\n
- Youth Allowance<\/a><\/li>\n
- Carer Payment<\/a><\/li>\n
- Special Benefit<\/a>, if you aren\u2019t eligible for JobSeeker Payment or Parenting Payment.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n
- Or 1 of these payments:\n
- \n
- Austudy<\/a><\/li>\n
- Farm Household Allowance<\/a><\/li>\n
- a means tested ABSTUDY<\/a> payment.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
- \n
- Grandparent<\/strong>\n
- \n
- All of the following must apply, you or your partner:\n
- \n
- be eligible for Child Care Subsidy<\/a><\/li>\n
- get an income support payment<\/li>\n
- be the grandparent of the child<\/li>\n
- have 65% or more care of the child<\/li>\n
- make the day to day decisions about the child\u2019s care, welfare and development.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n
- A grandparent is a child\u2019s biological grandparent or great grandparent. This includes if you\u2019re related to the child through any of the following:\n
- \n
- adoption<\/li>\n
- step parents, including former step parents<\/li>\n
- artificial conception<\/li>\n
- de facto relationships<\/li>\n
- surrogacy arrangements.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
If you have 65% or more care of the child but don\u2019t get an income support payment<\/a>, you won\u2019t be eligible for this subsidy. However, you may be eligible for Child Care Subsidy<\/a> and an activity test exemption.<\/p>\n<\/article>\n
